WHAT IS IT?

What Is Hardwood Installation?

Hardwood flooring is one of the most timeless and high-value investments you can make in your home. It adds warmth, character, and resale value that no other flooring type can match. But hardwood is also the most demanding to install correctly. It requires precise subfloor prep, proper acclimation, and the right installation method for your specific material and subfloor type. We install both nail-down and glue-down hardwood.

What You Need to Know Before Your Install

We believe an informed client is the best kind of client. Here's what most installers won't tell you upfront:

  • Hardwood must acclimate to your home for a minimum of 3–7 days before installation. This allows the wood to adjust to your home's humidity and reduces the risk of gaps, cupping, or buckling after install.

  • Nail-down hardwood requires a plywood or OSB subfloor with a minimum thickness of 3/4 inch. It cannot be nailed down over concrete.

  • Glue-down hardwood can be installed over concrete subfloors with the correct adhesive and moisture mitigation. This is Daniel's preferred method for concrete applications.

  • Hardwood is not recommended for basements or below-grade spaces due to moisture exposure.

  • Every hardwood installation includes a final inspection pass for squeaks, tight joints, and finished edges.

Why Choose Korr Floors?

Daniel has installed nail-down and glue-down hardwood across hundreds of Indianapolis homes. He knows how real wood behaves and how to install it so it stays beautiful.

We take moisture readings before we start. Skipping this step is the number one reason hardwood installations fail.

We never rush hardwood. The acclimation period, the subfloor prep, and the installation itself all take the time they need.
